Wood Street Opticians values the eye health of seniors, which is why we offer regular comprehensive eye exams to detect potential eye health issues and diseases as early as possible. During our exams, we take the time to understand your medical history and individual needs. Our use of advanced detection technology and equipment ensures that we provide top-tier service. We recommend annual eye exams to monitor vision and detect eye diseases early. Additionally, we screen adult and senior patients for age-related eye diseases and provide referrals for ophthalmology consultations or surgeries as needed.

DISCOVER EYE DISEASES EARLIER!

Access to optical services is vital for Over 60s as they are more susceptible to visual impairments and eye diseases. These conditions, if left untreated, can lead to significant visual loss, thereby affecting the individual’s quality of life. Eye examinations also serve not only as a diagnostic tool for eye diseases, but they can also reveal other underlying health issues such as high blood pressure or diabetes, which can be detected early and managed appropriately. Our eye examinations are performed in a caring way addressing not only the individual’s optical needs, but also their emotional and psychological wellbeing.

The population of individuals aged 60 and above is rapidly increasing globally, and the UK is not an exception. With this demographic shift, there has been a growing concern about the accessibility and provision of optical services for this population.

The National Health Service (NHS) offers various optical services for over 60s, including a basic NHS funded eye exam in the UK.  Due to limited funding, it doesn’t give access to advanced enhanced services such as OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scans and additional enhanced tests, which diagnoses eye disease up to 5 years earlier than normal.

We offer enhanced services at an additional monthly price for a comprehensive eye exam with our Eyeplan scheme or an additional upfront fee. Please ask a member of our team for more information.

Our enhanced eye examinations performed in a caring way contributes to an examination service that is patient-centred, prioritises the individual’s needs, and fosters patient-optometrist relationships, in our through 45 minute appointments.
